About Silicon Ruins

The questions below came up during early reader previews. The answers are written by me (the author) in the first person.

A note for English readers — I'm not a native English speaker. But I've seen many Chinese novels and TV shows reach audiences around the world. And with the help of AI and volunteers, I hope Silicon Ruins can find its way to you too.

Q1. What kind of novel is Silicon Ruins?

Silicon Ruins is a serious long-form novel — not a power-fantasy serial or quick-read entertainment. It mixes post-apocalyptic, fantasy, and science-fiction.

Q2. Where can I read it?

The full text is authoritative on the official site, where it also premieres: https://siliconruins.org/en/

Sync channels include the Zhihu column, Ximalaya (audio), Bilibili, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, and Kuaishou; English text is also on Scribble Hub. See Channels for links.

Please note: Same-titled works you may find on platforms such as Qidian (起点) are not this book. The author is Shentou; this site is authoritative.

Q3. Who are you (the author)?

I write under the name Shentou. I'm a middle-aged person working in the internet industry — not a full-time novelist. Silicon Ruins is my first formal work. I hope you'll like it.

Q4. Why write Silicon Ruins?

I'm dissatisfied that online fiction today is almost entirely occupied by power-fantasy serials, so readers often get little more than cheap dopamine hits. I want to try writing a serious long-form novel that takes characters and consequences seriously, and leaves a bit of weight for readers willing to go slowly. If you're also tired of empty leveling-up plots, try turning a couple of pages.

Q5. Are there versions in other languages?

English is already available on this site (https://siliconruins.org/en/) and on Scribble Hub (AI-assisted translation, author-reviewed).

For other languages, translation volunteers are welcome. Leave a comment or DM on Douyin, Bilibili, or similar platforms with the language and your interest — I'll reply when I see it.

Q6. Will it ever stop updating?

I probably won't stop. If I do, the pen is yours.

Q7. What do you most want to say to readers?

Go read. Everything I have to say is in the book.
